It's just not October without candy corn
Sep. 26th, 2010 03:00 pmSo I've come upon the first sacrifice so far in the boycott of Target: candy corn. I know it's not the most popular thing but I ADORE candy corn. I look forward to eating bags and bags of it every year. And the only place I know that sells vegetarian candy corn is Target. I'll keep looking, but I'm sad that this year I might not be able to have any. (Unless the bigots running Target decide to get their heads out of their arses and stop supporting a candidate who endorses the idea of telling people to kill gays and lesbians). Maybe it's just as well. If I've learned anything after a month of taking photos every day of me in woot shirts is that I'm getting too fat.
I had a good weekend, all things considered. Had a lot of bad moments but nothing too bad. And I hope to be able to walk without a limp within a week :-) The National Book Festival was great. I only saw 4 authors speak, but it was certainly a matter of quality over quantity. I was so thrilled to finally get to see Diana Gabaldon live, and Suzanne Collins was a great speaker as well, even if her last book disappointed me. I'll do a write-up of the whole thing on my book & travel journals, I think.
And dogsitting went fairly well. Had lots of snuggle time with the pups last night and this morning. They're all really sweet, especially when they all try to sit on my lap at once and demand to be petted. The problem is that there are 3 dogs and I only have 2 hands! heehee
Gonna take a nap and take it easy for the rest of the day, doing fun things that I need to get done but am excited about doing (like clearing off some of my DVR in time to tape programs tonight).
