Book/Movie Recs?

One of my "things" is to read a book and then watch a movie adaptation of that book for five books. I've done one and in the process of doing two more. But that leaves two vacant slots. Anyone have recommendations? It's got to be both a book I haven't read and a movie I haven't seen (so The Martian is out).

On a tv at work the other day the movie Drive was on. I had no idea that it had been a book before a movie up until then. It's about a stunt driver who moonlights as a getaway driver.

My mom was going through some things and found the book Cool Hand Luke which is also a movie that I bet a lot of people didn't know was originally a book.

Mystic River, Casino Royale, and Field of Dreams are also good movies and books. I had a bunch of lazy English teachers in high school who would show us the movie adaptations of books instead of going over the books in their entirety with us so I've seen a lot of the classics that were turned into movies (as well as read the books).

Do plays count? Because both the play and the movie of "A Streetcar Named Desire" are really good.

I'd also recommend "A Man For All Seasons", if only because the play has a small scene about colds.

Then of course, there's old movie classics like "Double Indemnity", "The Big Sleep", and "The Maltese Falcon".

I'm sure I can think of more later, but hopefully at least one of these will work for you!

The Book of Three and The Black Cauldron by Lloyd Alexander were turned into a Disney animated flick called The Black Cauldron years ago. It was the last hand drawn animated Disney film, and is not a musical.

One of my favorite books of all time is called The Mermaid Chair, by Sue Monk Kidd. The movie was either a Hallmark or Lifetime movie, if that counts?
